The country won the Tennis Europe Awards based on last year's Tennis Europe Association ranking results, which consider five categories: professional tennis, junior tennis, senior tennis, wheelchair tennis, and beach tennis.
The tournament was held under the auspices of the ITF, with the status of European Masters Championships (former European Senior Championships) and the auto-title category MT1000, allowing the winners to receive a significant rating boost.
