ITIA introduces financial and legal support for tennis players under investigation

The International Tennis Integrity Agency has launched a new support programme for players and other tennis professionals involved in anti-doping or anti-corruption investigations.

Key measures include:

– up to $5,000 for testing supplements or medications at WADA-accredited laboratories;
– up to $5,000 to investigate potential meat contamination;
– free legal support through Sport Resolutions from the moment of the first positive test (previously only after formal charges);
– up to six confidential counselling sessions provided by Sporting Chance.

The programme takes effect immediately and will be reviewed at the end of 2026.

ITIA CEO Karen Moorhouse said: “Anyone who finds themselves part of either an anti-doping or anti-corruption investigation deserves the opportunity to defend or explain themselves, and we recognise the process can come at both a financial and emotional cost.”

For European players and their teams, this means faster and more transparent ways to address disputes – from verifying supplements and medications to accessing independent legal advice. The initiative could help reduce the risk of unfair sanctions and make the defence process easier in complex cases.
