Carlos Alcaraz will be the hero of the new issue of Marvel comics
A comic book will be released in time for the US Open to inspire kids to start playing tennis.
The main stars of the issue will be tennis players Carlos Alcaraz and Naomi Osaka. Along with them, over two dozen tennis players will join forces with the Avengers to save the world.
The comics will be given away during US Open Fan Week, with 1,500 copies distributed each day from August 19th to 23rd. The remaining copies will be given to children on Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day, which takes place on Saturday, August 24th, and Sunday, August 25th.
The collaboration will also feature various Marvel-themed activities, including appearances by Marvel characters, comic book signings, and a “How to Make a Comic” lesson from Marvel’s Spider-Man editor, Nick Lowe. The organizers aim to fully unite the worlds of tennis stars and superheroes.
The collaboration between the US Open and Marvel is exciting as it draws thousands of children to the game while sparking interest in both the Marvel universe and the world of professional tennis. This is a strategy the European Tennis Association would do well to consider.
