Shanghai Masters: Sinner wins as Machac reaches the semi-finals, strengthening the Czech Republic’s position
The ATP 1000 Rolex Shanghai Masters tournament was held in China from October 2 to 13.
Winner. Jannik Sinner, who easily defeated Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals with a score of 6-1, 6-4, faced tough resistance in the semifinals against Tomas Machac. However, the Italian managed to overcome his opponent and reached the final, where he played Novak Djokovic, winning with a score of 7-6, 6-3.
Performance of European players. The standout performance of the tournament came from Czech player Tomas Machac, who, despite being seeded 30th, advanced to the semifinals. Another Czech player, Jakub Mensik, also made it to the quarterfinals. These results allowed both players to significantly improve their ATP rankings to 25th and 51st, respectively, strengthening the Czech Republic’s position at the national level.
