Tennis clubs in Lithuania: Vilnius at the heart, but not the only hub

Last Updated on 16 March 2025 by Racket One
As a tennis industry magazine, we see tennis clubs as the heart of the sport. They are more than just places to play once or twice a week — they bring together people for whom tennis is a way of life. How many such clubs are there in Lithuania, including major cities like Vilnius, Kaunas, and Klaipėda?
Teniso namai
One of the most significant online leagues, with thousands of amateur players (we consider tennis leagues a very progressive form of tennis clubs and include them here). A team led by Vytautas Bartulis organizes group competitions multiple times a year, concluding each with a live final tournament.
Most league players are based in Vilnius, but there are also groups in other major cities. The league’s unique characteristics include its decentralized and flexible format, along with its large and active participant base. The league also holds club competitions and weekend tournaments at top Lithuanian resorts.

A small but unique tennis club with some history

During our research of Lithuanian amateur tennis clubs and leagues, we stumbled upon a small but intriguing club with an interesting history. This club is called Kogas and is located in the city of Klaipeda.
The club was founded in May 2012. The idea of creating such a club came from a group of Klaipėda residents who not only love tennis but also believe that a healthy lifestyle, quality leisure time, and positive emotions enrich life and help solve many problems.
The idea of establishing this club in a port city was supported by the Franciscan brothers, who allowed the club to use the tennis court at the “Viltis” medical center of St. Francis as its main base for implementing common ideas. Brother Benediktas, who provided the shelter, is an honorary member of the club.
The club’s goals are to bring together the residents of Klaipėda and the coastal region, promote tennis and a healthy lifestyle, and organize tennis competitions.
