According to ESPN, the US Open 2025 men’s final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner averaged 3.3 million viewers in the United States for the match broadcast on ABC, with 3.0 million including the trophy ceremony.
That was an 82% increase compared to last year’s Sinner–Taylor Fritz final, which drew about 1.8 million, and marked the largest audience for a men’s championship match since 2015, when Novak Djokovic faced Roger Federer with 3.2 million viewers.
The women’s final also delivered strong growth. Aryna Sabalenka’s win over Amanda Anisimova averaged 2.4 million viewers on ESPN, up 50% from last year’s Sabalenka–Jessica Pegula final, which drew about 1.6 million.
The most-watched US Open finals of the past decade remain two women’s matches. In 2019, Bianca Andreescu’s victory over Serena Williams drew 3.7 million viewers, while in 2023 Coco Gauff’s triumph over Sabalenka attracted 3.4 million.
Beyond the finals, ESPN highlighted growth across the tournament. Quarterfinals drew their largest audiences in 10 years, while coverage through the Round of 16 posted its best numbers since 2022. A new Sunday start also helped deliver ESPN’s most-viewed Day 1 coverage since 2022, with audiences up 83% year over year.
These figures are reported by ESPN and are based on Nielsen Big Data + Panel, reflecting US domestic television audiences and likely excluding streaming platforms.
